“Outstanding . . . one of the best books I have read.” —Beechclose, five stars
A long-ago illicit relationship continues to upend lives in this taut psychological suspense novel . . .
Fifteen years ago, teenage Erin had an affair with her teacher that led to tragedy and changed Erin’s life. Today, she’s a married woman who keeps to herself and stays close to home, still scarred by the experience.
When she’s attacked while running in the park, Erin doesn’t tell her husband—but she does confide in Nick, the man who came to her rescue. Then letters start to arrive, making references to her past and leaving her even more unnerved. When a neighbour reports that someone’s been watching her house, Erin’s world starts to crumble.
Erin has worked hard to distance herself from her past. But her life may be in mortal danger, and as she’s plunged back into trauma, she might finally learn the truth about what really happened all those years ago . . .
Customer Reviews
Finished the book but hated it.
Not sure what the intention of the author was but the main character I found quite irritating. No normal human would have acted like her at all. She was just so restrained and unreal. 200 pages in.. I decided to give in and read the book to the end.
I understood the concept. And I suppose there was promise in the story.. however, if she humanized the character more, I would think this would be an interesting book.
No normal girl broken or not, in the face of trauma would act like her. Also, she says the character is fluffy and then be an extreme introvert after, that doesn’t fit with a real human personality. Author keeps contradicting the main character’s personality And this in turn makes her look so beyond fake.
I feel when u read a book, u have a sense of wanting to connect with the main character of the story. When u put the main character in a realistic idea, there is some realism u expect regardless of how the story goes or end. It is a sense of how an author wishes to connect with their readers. If not, why publish a book.
Author needs to be better.
