Hatch and Maisie are both relatively new characters. Hatch moved from the San Diego chapter and only showed up in the previous book a couple of times. He meets Maisie after her car breaks down and he helps her out. He isn’t looking for a relationship but fate conspires to keep Maisie in his path. When her and her daughter are hurt he comes to the rescue and things really progress from there. Maisie tries to push him away at first because she had no plans to ever love again after loosing her husband to cancer several years before. She just planned to raise her daughter alone, but when she sees Hatch’s softer side she can’t seem to stay away. Hatch is pretty gruff, but I think that just makes his softer side all the sweeter. As always there is some intrigue as well. I can’t wait for more of the Dogs of Fire.
