You Won’t Regret Reading It...

Hayden Nicholas’ Rock Bottom centers around the main character, Bash Nadir, a guitarist in Austin, Texas, who lost his dreams of becoming a successful musician when he lost his right arm in a motorcycle accident. After becoming a sound engineer for a local Austin band, he and the band moved into an old house out in the countryside of Austin. Little did anyone know what was in store for them… Soon after moving in, a series of strange events began happening. Band members were at each other’s throats, with the happiness of moving in beginning to dissipate.
Rock Bottom is the type of book that you never want to put down, whether the action is intense and in-the-moment, or band members are suddenly deciding to attack others. No matter what is going on, the book always keeps you intrigued, wondering what will happen next. I especially like the sub-plots throughout the book, always keeping everything well-paced, and in one case, switching between characters to keep the suspense very high and making the scene fast paced.
The strong character development in Rock Bottom makes the reader invest in certain characters, eager to learn more about them, and as well leading the reader to dislike other characters, in line with Bash’s point of view. It is clear that all of the characters have unique personalities, which sets them apart from one another.
Nicholas draws upon his own experiences as a career musician to build the characters in the novel. The author himself has many years of experience living and playing with bands, making it easier for the reader to see the development of the characters.
Overall, Rock Bottom is a book I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone interested in fiction, a book that you will not regret picking up.
