I'm faced with something I never thought I'd need to consider – if it comes to it, would I sacrifice my duty, for love?

As the Guardians of Earth, we inhabit the two realms — Lucidis and Tenebris — and work to maintain the Balance on Earth between positive and negative energies. The Balance is constantly disrupted, as every human emotion shifts the delicate equilibrium our universe exists on.

Every laugh, smile, and act of kindness.
Every tear and heartache.
And every act of violence.

When a Tenebrian Guardian goes rogue, he not only disrupts the Balance, but the pleasure he takes in the sadistic acts of violence make my stomach churn. My duty is to stop him, and return him to his home realm where he will be dealt with.

But everything changed when I met her.

She's tangled up in the battle and my feelings for her are clouding my judgement. I have to let her go, but every nerve in my body aches for her. She's in danger every second she's close to me.

What if he comes for her?
