Not for the lay reader

Very much for the expert rather than a lay reader. I read this thinking it would make my upcoming trip to Rome richer and more informative, but it doesn’t really serve that purpose. Also, graphics (mostly line drawings) are rudimentary, making it hard to get a good feel for what buildings were really like.
