Route 66 is arguably the most famous road in the United States of America. Stretching 2448 miles across much of the country, from Chicago in the East to Los Angeles in the West, it was also America's longest road. As it wound its way across the remarkable scenery of America, Route 66 originally passed through the states of Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

In the early 1920s, entrepreneurs Cyrus Avery and John Woodruff conceived the idea of building a massive highway that linked Chicago to Los Angeles. Their inspiration sprung from the changing needs of the American people.
