APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
This might just be the ultimate collaboration. Thriller master James Patterson and all-around goddess Dolly Parton team up for a suspenseful drama set in the Nashville music scene. The novel follows a young singer named AnnieLee who’s just arrived in town with big dreams, a big voice—and problems that have followed her all the way from Texas. After session musician Ethan sees AnnieLee perform at a dive bar, he introduces her to country-music legend Ruthanna Ryder. Patterson and Parton really pull us into the story of this trio, revealing secrets from each character’s past as the three become enmeshed in each other’s lives. Parton gives us an honest, inside look at the music industry while the pages fly past. Run, Rose, Run is an exciting journey into the dark side of Music City stardom, and it’s as glitzy and fun as you would expect from the rhinestone queen of country.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Country music legend Parton's strong debut, an exhilarating rags-to-riches story coauthored with bestseller Patterson (The President Is Missing with Bill Clinton), revolves around the troubled past of plucky singer/songwriter AnnieLee Keyes. AnnieLee's plan is to "get the hell out of Texas" and hitchhike to Nashville, Tenn., where she hopes to start her career as a performer. In Nashville, AnnieLee encounters ruthless, predatory agents and managers, but she also meets positive role models, notably Ruthanna Ryder, "one of country music's grandest queens," who takes AnnieLee under her wing. "If you want to make it in this town," Ruthanna tells her, "being talented is just one little tiny part of the battle. Fearlessness is mandatory. And shamelessness sure as hell don't hurt." Her other ally is guitarist Ethan Blake, who brings her to Ruthanna's attention. When AnnieLee's life is threatened, she needs the help of her new friends to survive. Never mind that the mystery element runs a distant second to the story of AnnieLee making good in Nashville. Parton fans will relish this timeless fairy tale, which displays the singer's lively way with words and draws liberally from her experience in the music business.

Can’t wait for the movie!!!
Spectacular
I loved this book. It was so real & so relatable. It’s what happens to so many girls these days. Not the fame & fortune part, but her secret life. Most girls aren’t lucky enough to have a savior rescue them though.
Ended abruptly
I liked the plot and all the characters. It just seemed to end abruptly.
