Runaway Slave Syndrome first began as a series of ideas swirling around in author Mitzie Holstein’s head during the 2020 pandemic. In 2021, after having to leave a job she loved, Mitzie began putting pen to paper to bring her unique "storytry” (storee-tree) concept to life, putting short stories in the form of poems. Runaway Slave Syndrome is poetry and prose and everything in between. It contains images that burn, may cause some to spurn; offers solutions, conclusions, or mere suggestions, from which, it is hoped, we all can learn. Meant to provoke, hurt, but ultimately heal, hopefully, it will have some appeal: to an audience that is not one, to sons and daughters, feelings unearthed.
