On February 19, 1927, the William T. Bell ran aground on the beach of Oak Neck Point after succumbing to the onslaught of a terrible Nor'easter. After the crew was saved by Bayville residents, they disappeared never to be heard from again. After investigating the abandoned vessel, residents found hundreds of thousands of dollars of illegal alcohol!
