Andrew Gunderson has spent two years running from grief. This time, he runs into the desert.

Grief brought Chandra Fenimore to northern Mexico, where a summer teaching at a small mission school offers a chance to find purpose again after the loss of her parents. There she meets Andrew, the construction manager overseeing the mission's building projects, whose anger and impatience keep everyone at a distance.

And when he finds his way back, Chandra and Andrew must decide whether two wounded hearts can risk hope, faith, and the possibility of loving again.
