John of Patmos had no choice but to explain the condition of things in the future using the language of his world and time. He did not see a picture of the year 2022 or 2050. He did not see anything beyond the 1000-2000 years from the time he wrote the Revelations of Jesus Christ except change. He did not use new words like pandemic, nuclear war, and quantum technology. He saw no situation related to America, China, Ukraine and Russia.

The images familiar to John's listeners or readers were the content of his visions because the 'World to Come' has a prior description — their 'Former State' (Revelation 21:4).
