Juan Cabrillo and his CIA-backed Oregon crew must beat opposing factions to a discovery that could prevent World War III in this novel in the #1 New York Times-bestselling series.
In the remote wastes of Greenland, a young scientist has unearthed an artifact hidden in a cave for a millennium: a 50,000 year-old radioactive meteorite known as the Sacred Stone. But the astounding find places him in the crosshairs of two opposing groups who seek the stone for themselves.
One is a group of Muslim extremists who have stolen a nuclear device. With the power of the meteorite, they could vaporize any city in the west. The other group is led by a megalomaniacal industrialist who seeks to carry out the utter annihilation of Islam itself.
Caught between two militant factions bent on wholesale slaughter, Juan Cabrillo and his crew must fight to protect the scientist and the Sacred Stone—and prevent the outbreak of World War III...
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The second installment of Clive Cussler’s spy-ship series is an action-adventure that moves with torpedo-like speed. Good-guy mercenary Juan Cabrillo leads his ace-operative army on an emergency mission to recover both a nuclear warhead and a radioactive meteorite that have fallen into deadly hands. The result is a transnational chase that zigzags among wild detours—a Greenland cave, Loch Ness, a Las Vegas penthouse, and an Elton John concert—and a motley ensemble of terrorists, assassins, and secret agents. Part industrial espionage, part disaster caper, Sacred Stone is a nonstop blitz.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Eric the Red's A.D. 1000 discovery of a radioactive meteorite has present-day life-or-death ramifications in Cussler and Dirgo's second novel (after Golden Buddha) featuring the Oregon, a state-of-the-art warship disguised as a rusty tramp steamer and manned by some of the world's finest ex-military and intelligence operatives. Known collectively as the Corporation, the men and women of the Oregon "mercenaries with a conscience" offer their services to various countries and individuals with specialized security and military needs. The Corporation's chairman, series hero Juan Cabrillo, has several pressing concerns: supply security for the emir of Qatar, who is attending a conference in Iceland; track down a nuclear bomb that has gone astray; and pick up the aforementioned meteorite, which has just been found ensconced in a mysterious shrine. These jobs become dangerously complicated when industrialist Halifax Hickman, a man fueled by revenge and hatred, enters the picture. The meteorite, the atomic bomb and a vial of plague are to be used in attacks on holy sites Israel's Dome of the Rock and Saudi Arabia's al-Haram mosque and at an Elton John concert. It's a deadly game, but the brilliant Cabrillo is a master player, moving his pieces at lightning speed on several boards until he outmaneuvers his opposition in this action-packed page-turner.

Sacred Stone
Great read, hard to put down...
Somewhat contrived
Written for those who enjoy a good action packed yarn. with a typically predictable conclusion. A little farfetched with heroic US operatives overcoming every obstacle via theuse of their infinite resources.
Sacred Stone
Hard to keep listening. The reader is awful!!! Much prefer Scott Brick’s reading of Cussler’s books. There’s no personal interaction between characters. Is there even a ship involved in this story? There’s a plot but no story line. I much prefer the later Cabrillo books starting with Skeleton Coast.
