“I invite you into the not-always-easy-but-always-fascinating life of Madison Knight, female detective extraordinaire. If you’re like me, you’ll be hooked from the very first page. Hold onto your seats, folks, you’re in for a wild ride.”
—Betty Dravis, Award-winning author and journalist
Finding justice comes at a high price…
When a young man washes up on the shore of the Bradshaw River, Detective Madison Knight and her partner are called in to investigate. But the case takes a complicated turn when he’s identified as the son of local business tycoon Marcus Randall. As one of the wealthiest and most influential men in the city, he has a lot of connections, and one of them just so happens to be the Stiles PD police chief.
Madison and Chief McAlexandar have butted heads before, but with this case, her drive and determination to find the truth just might cost her the job she worked so hard to get. She’s got her eye on Randall, despite the chief’s protests of the man’s innocence, and she’s not the only one. The Secret Service is after him for suspicion of fraud and counterfeiting, and they want Madison’s full cooperation to aid their investigation.
Stuck between the chief and one of the most powerful men in Stiles isn’t the ideal place to be, but if Madison’s going to find justice, she has no choice but to risk it all.

The stories are good. Knight doesn't stop even if it causes a riff with others in the department. I wonder if she were a male detective if they would punch their partner constantly. I think not. The author wants her to be a strong, powerful detective, however she still does things that show she's a woman. I enjoyed it when Grant was on his own for a few hours. He is a good detective on his own. Knight also has trouble accepting the jobs others have to do-Blake for example. She feels her job supersedes anyone else.
Good murder mystery with twists and turns.
Engaging. Believable. Entertaining.
The story is fast paced.
The plot is interesting and believable.
The characters are rich and entertaining.
It's all I want in a detective story.
Madison is one sharp police officer. I think she made a good decision to dump the egotistical lawyer, too.
