I literal could not put this book down. It was such an insight into Mazen’s life as a brother, son even as a cousin.
Sacrifices explains the lengths a brother will go to to save his sister’s life, Janna’s life. How a family man in love drops everything and everyone to do what he must to make Janna’s mistake not a deadly mistake.
Mazen’s whole life has been planned from the moment he took his first breath. He is the Future Crown Prince Mazen of Alfaidya and certain things were expected with his title that included his wife to be. A secret has hit the palace and Mazen will do anything in his power to protect his sister. Which means changing the future that has been planned since he was a child. How will The Queen’s decision changes his life forever?
Mazen repents and believes this is what he deserves for past mistakes. At least until he sees his now American fiancée, Marie. Yes, The Queen’s answer was a wife swap!!! Mazen will do anything to prevent the alternative for his sister, Janna, evening in marry a stranger!

Mashal doesn’t shy away from themes of religion, tradition, culture, anger, heartbreak, narcissism, depression, or love. The crown prince is human, flawed, and we get a raw insight into the tumult he experiences as he struggles to always do the right thing. You truly get the sense of a young man who is lost... but willing to fight until his last breath.
This is the first in a new series, from Mazen’s point of view. Sacrifices takes place before Black Keys (the entire series from his wife’s point of view is already available.) If you have not already read that series, you can absolutely start with Sacrifices and then jump in. (Trust me, you’ll want to KNOW!) It does end on a cliff hanger, but Rose absolutely delivers works that are 100% worth it, and I guarantee you will be captivated by the entire story. If you have read BK, there are still plenty of surprises here that will blow you away- so don’t assume you know Mazen!
It was my absolute pleasure to read this book, and I cannot wait for more. Rose has a rare talent of being able to create an entire world where you feel like you could walk up to any given character and they would have a story to tell. They’re so real... and there’s always a twist you’ll never see coming!
