‘A gripping thriller . . . Highly recommended’ C.S. Green

Don’t miss R.M. Ward’s latest thriller, THE GIRL WHO VANISHED

She should have been safe…But she never came home.

Kath has lived on the same London estate for decades. Lately she’s become friendly with the little girl next door, who is often left alone for hours at a time while her mum is at work.

They have a system. When Mina gets home from school to the empty flat, she knocks on the wall three times. Knock, knock, knock. I’m home safe and sound.

But one day Mina’s knock doesn’t come. Kath raises the alarm and the police begin the search. Kath was the only person looking out for Mina – now she might be the only one who can bring her home.

Unputdownable psychological suspense for fans of K.L. Slater, Shalini Boland and Louise Jensen.

Safe With You

Although I figured out who most likely was the perpetrator about half way through, I enjoyed the book. The character development was excellent and Ms Wards ability to keep me interested throughout the book was rare for me lately. Too many books are about missing children and follow the same path as each other. Safe With You was a refreshing read in that it followed a missing child in a unique direction

I really enjoyed this story. Over all it kept me turning pages and wanting to know who was responsible. It was very compelling, but …

I believe I would have thoroughly enjoyed it if not having to think about which character was sort of in first person or completely in first person. Having to switch my brain almost every chapter took me out of the story. Unless that was the author’s intent.

Also, I felt as though one character’s story was not quite rapped up in the end. Since the character and their family had a good back story, I was hoping to find out about how they were able to move on by telling how certain aspects were resolved.
And most of all the final chapter, for me, needed some expansion as well. I wanted to ask questions of the charters; why this, and what happened here? But, I’m a highly inquisitive person by nature, so it may not affect other readers the same way.

It is rare for me to cry through a story. I have to connect on a viscéral level with all the characters. At times I felt touched by a moment and at one place I felt tears well up only to have the moment whisked away. Perhaps deeper character development would have provided that connection?

I myself was a single parent so I definitely could relate on one level, but, I didn’t have a chance to know the characters better and this is where I feel taking the characters out of first or almost first person storytelling would have created the need to go deeper.

Again, I enjoyed this story very much and I definitely think it is worth reading.
