In 1969 Lt. Michael Robinson was assigned to Saglek Air Force Station, an arctic outpost perched 1800 feet above the brutal waters of the North Atlantic. Home to 150 men, military and civilian in a frozen world far beyond the reach of civilization, with a mission more political than military, isolation, loneliness and boredom stirred their emotions as they otherwise could never have imagined. An idealistic, iconoclastic product of the 60s, Lt. Robinson found himself on a personal journey of revelation, discovery and fulfillment during the final year before the Station was finally deactivated and closed 1970.
