Amazingly contemporary
G B Shaw wrote this over 100 years ago, yet much of what he says could have been written yesterday.
The play is not so much about Joan as it is about the danger her independent will represented to the institutions in her day, and the cruel behavior of individuals when their world is so threatened.
I saw the play last week (as staged by BEDLAM in NYC) and felt I had to read it.
