Same-Sex Marriages in the European Union: A Guidebook

In Chapter 1, this book looks at all 27 member states of the European Union. Each section describes the country's recent history, and its form of government. Then: each section looks into i) whether each member state allows same-sex marriage, and ii) whether each member state recognizes such marriages done abroad.

In Chapter 2, this book looks at EU directives and the judgments from the European Court of Justice (ECJ) touching on marriage equality. (It suggests two proposed EU directives.) Finally: it looks at the judgments from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), and how those judgments might give a legal standing for the right to same-sex marriage.
