Publisher Description
San Diego's famous for its weather, but not for its art. Which is too bad – it's a great place for public art. People are outdoors enjoying themselves, and the art's outdoors too.
'San Diego Public Art' is a guidebook to public art around the San Diego region. It doesn't cover everything – just the work that's especially good, or especially interesting. Maps (with directions) are included for all the works described.
Who should read this book? Certainly anyone interested in seeing public art in San Diego. Also, anyone curious to learn more about San Diego, as seen through its public art. And finally, anyone who just wants to learn more about public art, and the many ways it works.

Great public art guidebook
When I lived in San Diego, I had the opportunity to see most of the public art catalogued in this guidebook. My appreciation for the pieces back then was mostly aesthetic. Having this guidebook adds extra value to my same experience since I learned about each piece's history (even if brief), artist(s) and geographic location (as of its publishing date). As it also, opened my eyes to public art never noticed.
This guidebook, indeed short and simple in format, is a great asset to San Diego because it enriches people's daily experiences with the city, and unveils the history behind these art pieces, unknown to me until now.
As a suggestion, I'd recommend making the "pin" icon on each art piece page bigger or more recognizable. It took me some curiosity and casual exploration to find out that when clicked, it opens the piece's location map in San Diego county map.
