Southern California reader ,

best book on Santa Monica history

A very well-researched and readable book that covers Santa Monica's history from the Spanish colonial period all the way up to the present. Surprising details on many subjects I didn't know about--from the aviation industry to early filmmaking to lefty politics--there is much more to Santa Monica than a beach town or tourist destination. Highly recommended!
