Life can change in an instant.

For 18-year-old Sapphire, several of those instances seemed to happen at once. One minute she is going to town with her mother to pick up last-minute items for her coming-of-age ceremony in the Faith of the Attuned. The next she is freed as her mother dies unexpectedly, giving her the opportunity to escape the cult and its twisted leader.

When the soaking wet young woman wanders into his restaurant to escape the storm, Jake's protective instincts are alerted. He can't let the woman be forced back out into the storm. What starts as a simple gesture of generosity turns into so much more.
