Sarchedon

Assyria under Semiramis - the armies, the temples and a slave who rises through both. Whyte-Melville turned from hunting fields to the ancient east for this one and kept his eye for horses and for how an army actually moves. This edition adds a gallery of 55 plates, among them paintings by Edvard Munch, Giovanni Lanfranco and Samuel Colman, alongside three restored and coloured illustrations.
