Jared
They say love and hate dance together along the same line.
My feelings for Layla don’t dance on the line; they destroy it.
It’s been seven years since she disappeared without a trace.
And now she’s back, but things have changed—I’ve changed.
I’m no longer the Jared she remembers, the boy who wanted to protect her.
I’m very much my father’s son, and I take what I want, and what I want is Layla.
But this time, I’m keeping her forever.
Layla
Seven years—that’s how long it’s been since I’ve seen him.
After painstakingly putting myself back together, I’m finally ready to start a life without his memory chasing my every step.
Imagine my surprise when my new beginning leads me straight back to him.
Only he’s not the boy I remember.
He’s angry.
Damaged.
Hiding secrets that want to destroy him.
He hates me. He wants me.
I’m not sure I’ll survive the man he has become. His demons threaten to destroy us both.

Jared and Layla story
These two books took me by surprise especially the ending. Jared and Layla story started when they were kids both in the same foster family. Jared always looked out for Layla during this time period and she need him. They had a special bond. Something happens and Layla is taking away. Both of them are separated, Jared father finds him and takes he home. Layla ends up living with a sweet couple who couldn’t have kids. Her new parents love her and help her get thru all the trauma she
went through as a kid. I do like a happy ending.

Jared and Layla’s 2nd chance
An Emotional Read… Sensitive topics to be discussed if need be.
We continue right away from the end point from Deceive me, where we think that Jared is the one who is shot. But, he is not the wone shot but Layla is the one who is shot. Luckky she was shot in the shoulder where its not deadly. But, she lost a lot of blood and was put under a medically induced coma to kkeep her steady. In this book we see the POV of Layla and Jared. We see glimpses of the past of Jared, jarring his memory. Where he starts to question his father and side eyeing his mother Maura. Where she starts to pop up at this untimily situation occuring. But it is needed and I wasn't sure why. I was beginning to not like Jared aka Jay. Layla at first doesn't remember what happened the night of the shooting. But, after days of being around Jared and his home. Some things come to surface. and Jared's secrets and plan are coming up. i find it interesting how Layla hod the resources to guide her through her emotions and trauma to help her become the young lady she is now. And Jared, never had that and he was always angry. Why?
But, from the beginning to the first book, we thought Jared is trying to get back to bert and Ronnie their foster parents because of Layla. Because he always protected her when they were at that house. When things came to light, my heart went out to Layla, Jared and Nolan. well all the children in that foster care. This book is an emotional read with angst and how the system in whatever country somehow doesnt properly looked out for these children. That from time to time there are evil people are able to foster c\kids when they shouldn't/.
