SCALES

This scale book contains all the main scales that are the foundation of music. The scales included are, the Major Scales, Melodic Minor Scales, Harmonic Minor Scales, Major Arpeggios, Minor Arpeggios, Chromatic Scales, Diminished 7ths, Dominant 7ths, Major Scales in 3rds, Natural Minor Scales in circle of 5ths order, Whole Tone Scales and then the Jazz Modes, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Locrian and Blues Scales (more detail on the exact scales included is below). In addition, there are there are six sets of études based on the major scales. A General pattern for 19 scales, Arpeggio pattern for 19 scales, Semi quaver finger exercise for 17 scales, Ascending semi and demi semi quaver arpeggiated patterns for 17 scales, Ascending quaver, semi and demi semi quaver octave patterns for 17 scales and Ascending triplet patterns for 17 scales. There are 882 example audio files, which can be used to listen to each scale and arpeggio or to play along with. The scale audio files have been arranged at speeds of 120 beats per minute, 240bpm, and 300bpm, for the standard scales with a four beat count introduction, 60bpm and 180bp for the General pattern études and 90bpm and 150bp for the Arpeggio pattern études, 90bpm for the Semi quaver finger exercise, 70bpm for both the Ascending semi and demi semi quaver arpeggiated patterns and Ascending quaver, semi and demi semi quaver octave patterns and 100 bpm for the Ascending triplet patterns. The audio files are tongued however experiment with slurs, staccato tonguing and other patterns of play. Unless otherwise noted the scales are listed in ascending note order rather than traditional key order. This is to help you progress naturally on the instrument through the scales.
