APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Alvin Schwartz’s story collection for children (and others) is the stuff of nightmares—in a fun way. Some of the stories are truly chilling, while others are oddly unsettling or even funny…and they’re all based on American folklore or urban legends, giving them a compelling authenticity. Written to be read aloud around a campfire or at a sleepover, Scary Stories includes tips on when to pause for effect and when to lunge at your audience for maximum shriek factor. It’s Stephen Gammell’s iconic black-and-white illustrations, though, that take this book from creepy to downright hair-raising—so much so that it’s probably best saved for older kids.

Reminds me of being a kid. My cousins and I would get in a dark closet and use a flashlight and read these stories. It was always so fun and we’d always creep ourselves out. Great memories and I hope the movie lives up to expectations!
it brought me back to my elementary school days
