Searching for Barton Carter

In 1936, a young American from a privileged New England family made a life-changing decision that would alter the course of history for countless children caught in the devastation of the Spanish Civil War.

While the world stood divided by fear, Fascism, and political unrest, Barton Carter chose compassion.

Through historical records, personal accounts, and letters discovered long after his disappearance, Nancy Barton Carter Clough brings to life the legacy of a young man who devoted himself to rescuing orphaned children during one of history's darkest conflicts-and the enduring search for truth.
