Publisher Description
Haunted by war. Chased by secrets. Bound by an unbreakable promise.
Elijah Breeth keeps his life simple and his heart guarded. But his carefully controlled existence is upended when he makes a deathbed promise to protect Andie Montgomery—an icy, headstrong woman who just returned to town.
Returning to her hometown was never part of Andie's plan. But when her grandmother's sudden death forces her back, she can only pray the scandal that drove her away is long forgotten. That is, until she's forced to work alongside Elijah, a handsome, brooding Army Ranger who seems to dislike her as much as she detests him.
When a chilling threat puts Andie's life in jeopardy, Elijah's simple promise to protect her becomes a dangerous reality. Together, they race to discover who's hunting her, even as the tension between them ignites into an attraction neither can ignore.
But as secrets from their pasts come to light, the walls they've built threaten to tear them apart for good. Can they trust each other—and God—before time runs out?
A heart-stopping story of faith, redemption, and a love worth fighting for.

“Years trying to hide because of the stain of my mistakes was like an acid to my skin”
“It’s easy to allow ourselves to be weighted down by the past. The difficult thing is forgiving ourselves and moving forward.”
“Every single day you let yourself suffer with the loneliness as your own personal punishment is one more day you’re wasting the gift you were given.”
“None of us deserve it, Andie. The Christ died so that we might find our way into an eternity of peace. That doesn’t mean we won’t suffer while we are here. It just means we have a better place reserved for us when we pass from this life..
HONEST REVIEW
I don’t know if it was the Holy Spirit making me feel this way while reading it, but I can’t tell you how many times I was sobbing! It is so beautifully written that you can’t help to find comfort in it. This is the second Christian book that I’ve read in my life, and I am thankful I chose this book because for the past year I’ve been looking for more that takes place around this time and not in the 1900s.
The first Christian book I read was ‘Redeeming Love’ by Francine Rivers and both works made me get closer to Him. So if you loved FR then you will love Jessica’s writing! In here you will be given some verses from the Bible, which extremely helped as someone who’s just recently started reading it.
Also, i did not expect the plot twist! It took me 2 days to finish this book! (After finals week) Yes! It is this powerful! Like I said I love reading suspense, romance and fiction so this fit my description and got a bonus: Christ!!!!!!!
With that being said, ooof I loved Elijah! The bond that was being developed throughout this book was amazing! 🤍🤍🤍
