Publisher Description
The Detroit News proudly presents its first eBook, “Seasonably Simple,” a collection of columns and recipes from esteemed Food Writer Kate Lawson. Kate’s twice-weekly column, “Simply The Best,” brings Detroit News and detroitnews.com readers her unique, witty perspectives on food and life each week.
The eBook “Seasonably Simple” now collects 100 of Kate’s favorite recipes and columns for readers. Kate scoured through her work over the past 15 years as The Detroit News’ food writer, and chose her favorite recipes for each season of the year, which are presented along with her column from that edition, in this exciting new eBook.
Kate’s recipes in this inaugural Detroit News eBook are presented by seasons. The dishes Kate writes about for the spring portion of the book include Lemon Tortellini with Prosciutto, Roasted Caprese Salad and Strawberry Buttermilk Cake. For summer, she offers recipes for Fish Tacos, Minted Cucumber Soup and Blueberry Galette. Fall recipes include Pumpkin-Pear Bread, Onion and Cider Soup and Maple Pecan Popcorn. For the winter months, Kate offers Five-Spice Chicken with Clementines, Grown Up Hot Chocolate and Warm Cannelini Bean Salad.
Kate chose recipes that emphasize the premise of her Simply The Best columns. She offers recipes that do not take a tremendous amount of heavy lifting to prepare, as long as high-quality ingredients are used. Kate notes that finding organic ingredients, as well as those needed for gluten-free or sugar-free foods, are easier than ever to find at local grocery stores today. She also promotes visiting local farmer’s markets for the necessary ingredients whenever possible.
“Seasonably Simple” gives readers a chance to enjoy Kate’s columns and recipes in one convenient eBook.
