Seconds Before Sunrise (book 2 of The Timely Death Trilogy)
Two nightmares. One memory.
"Chaos within destiny. It was the definition of our love."
Eric has weeks before his final battle when he's in an accident. Forced to face his human side, he knows he can't survive if he fights alone. But he doesn't want to surrender, even if he becomes the sacrifice for war.
Jessica's memory isn't the only thing she's lost. Her desire to find her parents is gone and so is her confidence. But when fate leaves nightmares behind, she decides to find the boy she sees in them, even if it risks her sanity.

Better than the first book!
I received a free copy of this book with the option of leaving an honest review.
As much as I enjoyed Minutes Before Sunset, I was really blown away by Seconds Before Sunrise! Thompson expanded upon the foundation that she laid in the first book and did a wonderful job of fleshing out the main characters. Readers will learn more about the prophecy, the history of the Light and the Dark, the Elders, Eric, and Jessica. Thompson also leaves readers with the nagging impression that there might be more to one of Jessica's male friends than meets the eye.
Thompson expertly built suspense for the final battle, but I felt that the battle was a letdown. After all, it was a battle that Eric was destined to fight and win and I was expecting it to be a bit more epic. Given that this is a clean novel, I didn't anticipate reading all of the gory details; however, I felt that it could have been grander. It may be that Thompson is saving the best for last as the "final battle" really didn't go as prophesized, and there is one more book left in the series.
The interactions between the characters are compelling, and Thompson has managed to keep them fresh and interesting while maintaining a clean love interest between Jessica and Eric. Thompson really has a flair for clean romance! It's not saccharine and cute, it's not overly dramatic with grandiose protestations of love, but readers are left with a definite impression that Jessica and Eric are meant to be together.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series to find out if my suspicions are correct. If you enjoyed Twilight and books like it, I think you'll enjoy the plot and the romance in The Timely Death Trilogy.
