Secret Desires

Set in the 1890s, Secret Desires describes the sexual adventures of Phoebe Paxton, a promiscuous young lady from Australia. On completing her schooling, she obtains a position as private secretary to the wife of a rich banker in Sydney.
Phoebe has bigger ambitions than working as a private secretary, however. She is anxious to improve her social and financial position and she has the good fortune to meet an English lord who is visiting Sydney.
The English lord proposes marriage to Phoebe, and when he returns to England, he takes his bride with him. In England, Phoebe soon becomes bored with her husband's unimaginative lovemaking, and she seeks variety in a series of extramarital affairs.
These affairs include one with no less a personage than the Prince of Wales. When Phoebe's husband learns of the affair, he is not upset at all. In fact, he actively encourages the affair, as he believes that it is in his own best interest to have a wife who is on familiar terms with the future King of England.
