A federal agent in the crosshairs
Can The Security Specialists protect him?
Secret Service agent Evan Novak becomes the target of multiple hit men when someone puts a two-million-dollar bounty on his head. Is it the gunrunner he’s tracking...or a traitorous agent? Framed and wanted, Evan reluctantly accepts protection from bodyguard Jody Gallagher, his former love who lost her Agency career because of him. But then the bounty is raised to include Jody…
Secret Service Setup proves again why I have never been disappointed with a Jessica Patch novel! This book is the second in the Security Specialists series. A reader can definitely enjoy this as a standalone, but if you have the chance I would definitely treat yourself to the first in the series as well.
The action starts on page one and doesn't stop until the very end! A bounty has been placed on Evan, a secret service agent. Jody, a former agent, has been tasked with keeping him safe. Jody and Evan have a history of a past relationship and Jody losing her job as a result of Evan. It is soon discovered that whoever is after Evan wants Jody dead as well. This novel delves into the dark web and gun running making the reader unsure the whole time of who can and can't be trusted. Jody and Evan find themselves in many perilous situations as they are running from those trying to kill them and collect the money offered for the hit while also trying to find answers to who is behind all this.
I appreciated a strong heroine, just the right amount of romance, and a storyline that kept me guessing. It was impressive that the story was full of action as well as realistic well-developed characters. Readers get to walk alongside Jody and Evan as they deal with issues of forgiving others as well as themselves, rebuilding trust, and redemption. If you are looking for a romantic suspense novel that forces the reader to constantly question who can be trusted, what secrets are going to be revealed, etc. then Secret Service Setup is the book for you!
I can't wait for the next one in the series!
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
