Love the suspense and romance!

I received an ARC of this book and thoroughly enjoyed it. The storyline was well thought out and intricately woven with details that played a part later on in the story. Jack, Abe, Madeline, and Daphne were lovable characters and I found myself rooting for their romances. The element of suspense was present throughout the story as well as a big "whodunnit" that kept you guessing until the very end. The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is because I felt like there were too many characters in the book. I had a hard time keeping them all straight and remembering how they played in to the story. Other than that, this was a great read!

Another Great One By Krentz!

I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic suspense by Jayne Anne Krentz. It had great characters and a storyline that kept me turning the pages as quickly as possible. I thought it had a nice balance of romance and suspense, and I liked the chemistry between the two main characters, Madeline and Jack. The book also had a couple of great secondary characters, Daphne and Abe.

In Secret Sisters, Madeline inherits a small hotel chain from her grandmother, including the property where they lived when Madeline was a child, that was abandoned when she was twelve. Madeline travels to her childhood home for the first time since childhood after receiving a call from the caretaker. Suddenly, secrets that have been buried since she was a child appear to pose a danger to her, as well as others. She calls upon her hotel chain's security consultant, Jack Rayner, to help her figure out how current events tie into her past after she finds the caretaker dead in the hotel. With help from her childhood friend, Daphne, and Jack's brother, Abe, she and Jack hope to find who is behind the current murder, as well as events in the past before the danger catches up to them.

I thought this was an intriguing book, and I enjoyed all of it. The setting of the old, abandoned hotel gave just the right atmosphere to the story. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Secret Sisters

I just finished reading the novel Secret Sisters by Jayne Ann Krentz. Madeline Chase was attacked eighteen years ago (she was twelve) on Cooper Island at Aurora Point Hotel. Daphne (her best friend) went for help and got Tom Lomax (the caretaker) and grandmother, Edith Chase. Thankfully, Madeline was rescued before the attacked could harm her (physically). The attacker had a briefcase with him. After the adults saw the contents, they quickly hid the briefcase (insurance policy). Eighteen years later Madeline’s grandmother, Edith just passed away leaving her in charge of the Sanctuary Creek Inns. Madeline gets a call from Tom Lomax that he needs to see her right away. Madeline has not been back to Cooper Island since the attack. When Madeline arrives, Tom is at the bottom of the staircase. He apologizes for not protecting her and the secret before he passes away. Then someone tries to kill Madeline.

Madeline calls in Jack Rayner from Rayner Risk Management for assistance (the security company she has under contract). It turns out that someone is trying to kill everyone involved in the incident eighteen years earlier. What was in the briefcase? Madeline and Daphne are the last two left alive. Jack, Abe (Jack’s brother who also works for Rayner Risk Management), Madeline, and Daphne set out to find everything they can on the attacker and what his briefcase might have contained. Will they be able to stay alive long enough to get answers?

Secret Sisters is a good mystery novel. It is intriguing (and suspenseful) and you will be kept guessing throughout the book. I just wish that the focus had stayed on the mystery. Unfortunately, romance seemed to dominate the book. The writing is good (as always with this author). I give Secret Sisters 3.75 out of 5 stars. If you are looking for a book with a lot of romance and a little bit of mystery, then Secret Sisters is the book for you!

I received a complimentary copy of Secret Sisters from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
