Kellan James is unwinding at Score when he spots the last person he’d ever expect to find in his favorite bar. Sara Connelly—ER nurse, do-gooder, charitable crusader, and frequent pain in his ass. Both grew up privileged in swanky Southampton, but that’s where the similarities end. Kellan’s made it his mission to seek out life’s pleasures; Sara gains pleasure from lecturing him on his lifestyle. Kellan would never date someone like her. Ever.
But when Kellan discovers Sara’s been stood-up by an online date, something fierce and protective awakens inside of him. Typically, Kellan would enjoy teasing the jilted Sara, but something in her face sends him over to her table with a plan. He encourages her to take a walk on the wild side, one weekend of sin, no holds barred.
She accepts, but it quickly becomes apparent that one night isn’t enough. As the pull between them grows stronger, Kellan discovers it’s a very dangerous thing to say never.

Thoughts: If you happen to be looking for a steamy, yet quick read, then Seducing the Boss is a perfect choice. I loved the history behind these characters and how their relationship changes through the course of the book. Mari Carr always writes a great read, and this is no exception!
Friends to Lovers
"Seducing the Boss" by Mari Carr is book number two in the "Pulse" series. This is Kellan James and Sara Connelly's story.
Kellan and Sara have been friends for most of their life and her boss at the hospital where they work. Their friendship has never crossed the line until one night things change. It is meant to be just a hookup and to allow Sara to let loose and enjoy herself. The more time they spend with each it gets harder and harder for the both of them to see this as just a hookup. Will they risk their friendship and work relationship to take a chance on love?
There is a lot of graphic hot intimate scenes. In the second half of the book you get a story to go with why they never hooked up before and why they could be perfect for each other. This was an okay read for me.
FYI, includes graphic mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This was a short, quick enjoyable read about lifetime friends falling in love unexpectedly. I have to admit, I didn't think anything really stood out about this story until I got to the second half of the book. I struggled a bit in the beginning because I had a hard time thinking Kellan just suddenly saw Sara in a new light when they have known each other since childhood. But then the heart of the story came out half way through. You learn why Kellan was in a state of denial and why Sara was the way she was with him as well. I really enjoyed this story once we got to the heart of this story and the ending was very sweet!
