Seraphina’s Awakening (The Seraphina Series Book 1) by Sheena Hutchinson

This is my first book by this author and I'm looking forward to checking out what else she has available.
This is not something I would normally read but the synopsis had me intrigued so I gave it a shot. The writing is fantastic, it flowed perfectly, and the storyline was very creative. Sera was a great character, and what was happening to her I thought was written very well. I absolutely loved Amanda, she is that kind of best friend everyone wants.
I was somewhat confused as to what was going on for a good part of the book, but in saying that, this story still read very nicely. It seemed Nate was going to be a big part of the book but then unless I just missed something he seemed to disappear and returned then towards the last half. I did although thoroughly enjoy his presence during Sera and Jacks date, there was no question he was involved. I still have mixed emotions about Jack, I really liked him but still have many questions regarding the part he is playing in this story.
Although this is not a genre I would normally choose, I did finally pick up on what was going on towards the end and now really have to know how this story plays out and see what the future holds for Nate, Sera, Amanda, and Jack, so I will be reading book 2 as soon as possible, although I'm seriously tempted to reread this book because I'm thinking I missed a few things along the way that would've helped me to understand it better.
