Publisher Description
Every city needs a hero, but Detroit’s white knight just might be a villain.
A rough childhood branded Jasper Storm trouble. A bad boy. Not worth a damn. His love of cars was the only thing that could battle his delinquency. With the need for speed in his blood, he overcame his wayward ways. Mostly. All grown up, the broken city of Detroit hails him their shining star. And the man behind a new cutting-edge automobile is ready to turn this bankrupt town around.
Everything he does in life is fast. He talks fast, f*cks fast, and drives fast. But when one reckless turn brings him face-to-face with the childhood he has tried very hard to forget, he finds himself on the edge of wondering if he shouldn’t slow down.
Charlotte Lane was the tomboy who lived next door. She was his best friend. He was her protector. Then tragedy struck and she disappeared, forever—or so he thought.
Jasper has many reasons to hate Charlotte and keep his distance, which is easier said than done. Soon she’s infiltrating his every thought and he can’t stay away. Back in town with an agenda of her own, she should push him aside. Make him turn around. Walk away herself. Yet she can't.
With the past lurking between them, they proceed with caution. That is until one sex-filled night leads to murder. When Detroit’s biggest ally suddenly becomes suspect number one, will Charlotte—the girl Jasper once kept safe—be the one to save him?

Turn up the turbo boosters for an exciting ride.
Will Fleming, Jake Crown, Drew Kates, and Jasper Storm aren’t really racecar drivers, they are best friends who just so happen share a love of cars. With the sale of the “Pulse” to a large retail automotive parts chain, Jasper is now in the position to fund this venture.
At twenty-eight, Jasper thinks about speed. His goal is to use the Pulse part he designed in his car The Storm to make it go fast. Jasper wants to buy property on 8 Mile Road to create a factory where he and his friends can produce more parts.
Charlotte and Jasper were childhood friends. At the age of eight life changed for Jasper and Charlotte's families when an explosion killed all the workers sending families into devastation. Charlotte's family moved away and Jasper's moved to the other side of town.
A conspiracy is brewing in the town that was destroyed twenty years ago. Charlotte is back in town to help unlock those secrets.
The story includes past references in italics. The story is told from both Jasper and Charlotte's POV. The story revolves around racing and anything to do with fast cars and the automotive industry.
If you are a fan of racing, small towns, and bad boys you are in for the ride of your life. Jasper is the ultimate catch. He is great looking, driven, and focused. He is a ladies man.
Kim offers a story about characters that are well developed and relatable. Kim uses the perfect words to illustrate the pull Jasper and Charlotte have for one another. The friendship that was formed was strong enough to withstand the twenty year gap.
Kim tells a believable story and illustrates the characters emotions so well I almost believe them to be real people.
It's a delicious slow building torture of desire that blooms between childhood friends who missed out on the growing up process and was pleasantly surprised by the results.
The story has a detective vibe to it with trying to figure the past explosion that sent families scattering away.
So many elements to this story. It moves in many directions while feeding your mind with necessary information.
I love how they each hold information pertinent to the past and the present that allows them to maintain contact with each other.
Although our lives took different paths after the age of eight, they both suffered from the devastation the explosion caused in their town.
This is not a race story about race car drivers. These four boys shared in interest in cars but only to build a car designed for speed. While Jasper Storm is the main focus and character of the story he is also the front runner for all the detective work.
Kim makes me not only crave the lust, desire and sex but I enjoy the moments when Jasper hangs out with the guys.
Set The Pace is an appropriate title for this story because it applies in so many areas. This is a well rounded story. I could not label it a romance or a detective story because it's much more than that. Combined it's a multi-genre story that is enticing and enthralling.
Wow! What a chilling way to end part one. I'm on pins and needles buzzing with excitement. I need Turn it Up pronto. Kim I'm so pleased with this story and not at all disappointed it's a two part series. This book held its own and I know part two will be equally good.

Jasper, Will, Drew and Jake. four boys growing up in the rough streets of Detroit.
Charlotte and her strength to go back and clear her dads name no matter what people think and say about her.

something else to look for. with all the tragedies and loss, broken families and lost friendships
this story will keep you guessing. Jasper and Charlotte never had it easy and it's about to get worse
