There are several different prompts tweeted daily or weekly on twitter by different people. Some invite poetry as well as very short stories and some have a word limit.
@TWfictionfest brought the idea of story tweets, or twiction, to my attention shortly after I joined Twitter, during the Twitter Fiction Festival. Twiction is a whole story told in less than 140 characters.
Whether or not you are a Tweeter, this book is an opportunity to read all my #vss tweets from March and April 2014 at your leisure.
