Publisher Description
In a world of swords and magic, where the Goddess is revered, Lyell Walt was fortunate enough to be born the first son and heir to an earldom. That is, until his parents disown him for losing pitifully in a fight with his younger sister, Ceres.
Lyell had once been hailed as a prodigy—a wonder child—but the birth of his sister changed everything. After Ceres wounds him in their duel, an enigmatic old man swoops in to rescue Lyell and bestows upon him a necklace containing a jewel that has been blessed by the goddesses and passed down through the last seven generations of Walt leaders.
As Lyell sets out, necklace in hand, will he be able to prove himself despite his humiliating loss to his sister? And moreover, will he be able to solve the mystery behind Ceres’s monstrous strength and the strange sway she seems to hold over his entire family?
Customer Reviews
So, um… yeah
I normally rate most LNs with four stars, so I can give five to the occasional outstanding work I come across. This one… I’m honestly on the fence about. I kind of want to give it a five just because it did draw me in and got me invested… its just, it was kind of a bad experience that made reading it really unpleasant, and I freely admit I don’t do LNs for the angst. In the end I went with three stars just because the greek chorus wasted so much time commenting on each and every little detail, and it really made the story drag. That being said, I’m probably reading the next one soon.
Wasted Potential
Slogging through the third book at this point and it’s an interesting setting completely kneecapped by the most pathetic protagonist you’ve ever seen. The entire plot depends on him being completely ignorant and worthless, punctuated by one good moment where he’s not embarrassing. Also falls into the god awful writing style of people withholding information from each other for no reason other than to make the story progress even when it makes no sense.
