Publisher Description
New York Times bestselling author and former special forces officer Brad Taylor is back with a dynamic political thriller featuring Pike Logan as he goes head-to-head with an old enemy—and renowned assassin.
After its proxies are devastated and its offensive capability pummeled in the latest war in the middle east, a rogue group of Iranian regime officials create a brazen plot to strike back at their hated enemies once and for all. They envision a series of operational dominos culminating in a devastating attack, and the first step is the assassination of the Israeli prime minister. And there’s only one assassin with the skills to pull it off: Abdul Rahman, known in the shadows as the Ghost.
When a routine prison transfer is ambushed, the Ghost escapes and is given the assignment. The only Operator who can hunt him down is the man who stopped him before: Pike Logan.
Pike and his team soon learn that the mission involves something bigger than just the escape of his old enemy. Working with Mossad agents, the pursuit leads the Taskforce to Argentina. They work to unravel the scope of the attack, and the chase leads them through the tempestuous waterfalls of Iguazu and the Triple Frontier, to the vibrant streets of Buenos Aires, and the tiny village of Ushuaia at the “End of the World”.
As the team races against the clock, Pike learns the stakes are much greater than a single life – the consequences extend into the heartland of America itself. The Ghost may hold the key to an escalation that will upend the worldwide balance of power, and if Pike fails, the fallout won’t just be personal – it’ll be global.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Taylor's formulaic latest Pike Logan thriller (after Into the Gray Zone) sees the return of a long-dormant series villain. Abdul Rahman—better known as "the Ghost"—has been incarcerated in a secret U.S. prison for 10 years. While being transferred to a new facility, he's liberated by a motorcycle gang and delivered to Sardar Bagheri, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's assassination cell. Sardar has planned a three-pronged attack to devastate Iran's enemies: Ghost will assassinate both the prime minister of Israel and the U.S. secretary of state at a meeting in Buenos Aires, then a dirty bomb will be detonated in the occupied West Bank and a chemical weapons attack will cripple Washington, D.C. Joined by familiar faces Aaron and Shoshana—contract assassins working for the Israeli Mossad—Taskforce leader Pike Logan and his team track the elusive Ghost from his escape through Mexico to Argentina and eventually to the Antarctic. Unfortunately, the exotic locations are underdescribed, and the terrorist missions feel rote. The physically unassuming but deadly Ghost makes a great villain, but Taylor disappoints by plopping him into a paint-by-numbers plot. This one's strictly for diehard fans.

Shadow Strike
Really enjoyed the entire book , the eventual culmination of the story lines was well done and it’s pretty compelling given events in the Mid-East
Taylor’s plot is like 3D chess but light on confrontation
Lots of unexpected moves. Far more narrative than action.

OK Brad this one was kind of lame. Read almost all the Pike novels. This one checked up well short. One of the stretches of the story when the Prime Minister and secretary of state are on the stage and there is a disruption the ghost just walks up and grabs them both? Give me a break they would’ve been covered by Mossad and Secret Service agents. Kind of a color by numbers book. Spent $14.99 on the book, not worth it. my recommendation skip this one.
