Catherine Whitlock has spent years trying to outrun the shadows of her childhood. After fleeing Auburn for Sacramento, she built a quiet life for herself and her eight‑year‑old son, Tommy—a bright, gentle boy whose innocence allows him to see the living, the dead, and the strange beings that drift between.
