When Tod Peterson, a Partner in JP Associates, a detective agency based in Edinburgh, decided to go to a literary evening in the heart of Edinburgh, primarily for the free wine, he got more than he bargained for. It was there he met the Reverend Callum Mackie, retired Special Boat Service officer, one-time MI5 operative and now a Kirk of Scotland Minister. It was Reverend Mackie that took Tod later that night to a birthday party on a merchant ship in Leith Docks. It was on board that ship that a Filipino sailor told Tod of some very dark tales, of phantoms and drugs. So dark it led Tod to involve JP Associates in another, dangerous, investigation.
