Shapes and Shadows Shapes and Shadows

Publisher Description

Madison Cawein (March 23, 1865 – December 8, 1914) was a poet from Louisville, Kentucky. His output was thirty-six books and 1,500 poems.  His writing presented Kentucky scenes in a language echoing Percy Bysshe Shelley and John Keats. He soon earned the nickname the "Keats of Kentucky".

«Shapes and Shadows» is a collection of Cawein's poems. His poetry combined his love of nature with mythology and allusion through the traditional approach of classical English and European literature. He gained an international reputation, but was eclipsed as the genre in which he wrote became outmoded. In Mr. Cawein's work, what is not the expression of the world we vainly and rashly call the inanimate world, is the hardly more dramatized, and not more enchantingly imagined story of lovers. Don't miss the chance to enjoy expanding and maturing beauty of the author's talent!
