First published in 1936, ‘Sheaves After Harvest’ is a collection of addresses by Dr Andrew Bonar collected by his daughters Isabella Renwick Oatts (1850-1939) and Jane Christian MacIntyre (1861-1940).
Dr Bonar (1810-1892) was a minister of the Church of Scotland and later of the Free Church and younger brother of the hymn-writer Horatius.
'From the opening of his ministry, Dr Bonar was much in request at Conventions and Conference Meetings. In the greater number of instances, the addresses which he delivered at such gatherings perished with the using—no record was taken of them. Others were reported with more or less fulness in the journals of the day. These have long since passed from common knowledge. But a few, selected from a considerable number, have been brought together in this volume.'
