Fun read
I enjoyed this story about Chantal and Dauro who meet under rather unusual circumstances, a collapsing fairy realm. The story was fun, suspenseful, danger filled and sweet at the same time. Filled with the usual and unusual shifters, it fit in well with the series. It made me laugh and groan but I enjoyed the story and characters as I rooted for everyone to escape the collapse coming.

I had a great time and was highly entertaining with each turn of the page of this PNR read. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly from beginning to the end. Looking forward to reading more.

Fun shifter romance featuring a unique shifter
I've read the first two of the books in this series featuring shifters whose animal form is a large, Ice Age animal that's now extinct. I'm so impressed at the way the author comes up with these creatures and then weaves a plausible shifter romance around them (well, plausible assuming that you accept the basic notion of shifters in general, LOL). In this book, the hero's animal form is a prehistoric sloth - aquatic, larger than an elephant, but as with modern day sloths, a gentle vegetarian who loves to sleep.
I absolutely love nice guy heroes and that description fits Dauro to a T. Imprisoned for hundreds of years by a powerful and cruel fairy, he spends most of his time watching out for the other unique aquatic shifters imprisoned with him and seeing to their physical and mental well-being. He's the de facto leader of the group because he cares so much about all of them. When he realizes their "owner" has died and the manufactured world where they live is failing without her magic, he knows he has to get them all to safety, even though he isn't sure how he'll do that.
Along comes Chantal, a friendly, kind, but also capable and no-nonsense black leopard shifter (daughter of the heroine of book 1 in the series) who stumbles across their hidden world. As in many shifter romances, Chantal and Dauro are fated mates. They pretty quickly realize this but first need to save themselves and the other shifters. The romance between them was very fast, but still very sweet and I loved the inventiveness of the author's world. Now I just need to go back and read the third and fourth books to catch up.
