George Webbe Dasent (1817-1896) was a folklorist and translator of legends and fairy-tales into English. Dasent was acquainted with Jacob Grimm who advised him to study mythology. Eventually George Dasent became a professor of English literature.


This story tells us about two boys - Shortshanks and King Sturdy. The were born in a family that had a lot of children already so they went off to seek their fortune in order not to be a burden for their parents. The two brothers had a lot of adventures and met various magical creatures.
