Shylock's Revenge

If you are Jewish, Shakespeare’s THE MERCHANT OF VENICE is not much of a comedy. This revision offers a kinder Shylock who explains how a malicious tease took on a life of its own and lead to his personal disaster. Shylock’s cautionary tale of a revenge gone out of control offers a much more sympathetic version of Shakespeare’s money lender. This play mixes contemporary English dialogue into Shakespeare's original play.
