"Albert makes a deeper and more sensitive investigation into what love is than most romances." —New York Times Book Review on Conventionally Yours
A meet-cute leads to more than they expected in this military-hero romance from award-winning author Annabeth Albert
Navy chief Calder Euler loves to win big. His latest score? A remote mountain cabin. Checking it out is supposed to be a quick trip, but Calder’s luck abruptly turns when a freak injury and a freakier snowstorm leave him stranded.
Oh, and the cabin isn’t empty. A silver fox caring for two young girls claims that the property is his, but Calder’s paperwork says otherwise.
Felix Sigurd is on a losing streak, and his ex-husband risking the cabin in a reckless bet is only the latest in a series of misfortunes. He’ll tolerate the handsome stranger for a couple nights--even care for his injuries—but that’s it.
Calder doesn’t know a damn thing about kids, but making pancakes for Felix’s girls is a surprising delight. Trapped in the cabin, the four of them slip easily into the rhythms of a family. But when the ice melts, they’ll have to decide if a future together is in the cards.
Carina Adores is home to romantic love stories where LGBTQ+ characters find their happily-ever-afters.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
With this second Shore Leave romance (after Sailor Proof), Albert delivers a charming love story that doesn't quite stick the landing. Navy chief Calder Euler can't believe his luck when he wins a cabin in a poker game—and his sense that things are too good to be true is proven right when the cabin's real owner interrupts his first visit. For his part, Felix Sigund wishes he were more surprised to learn that his resentful ex-husband gambled away keys to their beloved cabin after it was awarded to Felix in the divorce. When Calder winds up snowed in with Felix and his two adopted nieces for the weekend, an intense attraction blooms. Both know that Calder's bachelor lifestyle won't mix with Felix's single fatherhood, but they decide there's no harm in one night of fun. Neither expect that night to be life changing. As they create excuses to extend their fling, Calder questions what he wants for his future. The conflict remains mild throughout, with no real third act challenge to bring the story over the finish line. Still, there's no denying the chemistry between the men, and the hodgepodge, found-family dynamic is sure to please. Readers who prefer sweetness over drama will find plenty to enjoy.

Very cool transition… really!
Felix and Calder could have been just a blip on the radar screen, but the few days snowed in was the chance the seed of a future got planted and grew. The two sisters are a great bonus, and, as so often happens, represent two very different children in the mix. Calder’s evolution was gradual, but noticeable. Felix came in guarded, having recently suffered a divorce. Both struggled with each’s reservations about a new relationship. The struggles provide the clues of the future. The final two chapters are frosting on the cake, and the ending is HEA and very believable…. Good read
Treading on the fringe ♥️ of romance…?
An open sea with a fathom to embrace a chance to either swim or drown — two people — encounter each other, accidentally caught in a crazy snow storm, where they become buried in a mountain cabin — trapped unexpectedly — forced upon each individual in accepting their plight — to SINK or to SWIM…!
“CHOICES” — a choice forced by stubborn circumstances to embrace — acceptance or rejection. Fantasy, a dream escape embraced by a “KISS”… just another …’kiss’…! One more…!
Loved!
I’m usually a little Leary of close proximity romances because most feel forced. This book is definitely NOT you usual close/forced proximity romance!! The relationship evolution was not only believable but sweet and steamy!! I also loved the single “dad” aspect. Highly recommend <3
