Publisher Description
This 1921 volume documents six Creole folksongs, along with piano accompaniment. In the volume’s introduction, editor Maud Cuney-Hare writes, “Distinct from the mountains song of Kentucky, the Negro Spiritual or the tribal melody of the Indian, the Creoles have added a new note in their gift to the folk-song of America.” Song lyrics are given both in Creole French and English. Included are the songs “Aurore Pradère,” “Gardè Piti Mulet Là,” “Belle Layotte,” “Quand Mo-té Jeune,” “Aine, Dè, Trois, Caroline” and “Dialogue d’Amour.”
