When children in a small Midwest city begin going missing, only to reappear mere hours later, apparently unharmed and unscathed, tabloid reporter Eileen Morgan knows that there's a story. When she is approached by one of the mothers of those children who turns out to be Wiccan, Eileen smells money. But when her editor sidetracks her with sightings of a werewolf stalking the University Arboretum she begins to get a hunch that the two are connected.
Eileen, however, has a trick up her sleeve that any reporter would kill for; she's a Skin-Walker, a Shape-Shifter.
So begins her gripping tale of a werewolf indebted to her service whom she cannot help falling in love with, a Wiccan couple who hate that their arts are being perverted, and a desperate and sadistic rogue witch with a partner who feeds on pain and is seeking the perfect child. In the end, Eileen will have to face herself as both woman and Skin-Walker.
