SKULLCAP

As a child growing up off the grid, Lars learned the myths of The Book of Lore from his mother and Native American mysticism from his father.  His famous grandfather Felix Wenger taught him about science, explosives, and free will.  When Lars is fitted with a skullcap as a young adult, he comes face to face with the realities of robotics.  On a rescue mission to Mars, Lars and the crew battle a mutiny by an artificially intelligent guidance system.  Because his skills, his physical stamina, and intelligence are needed in the mines on Venus, Lars is rejuvenated twice, making him realize that science and technology, things he worshipped when he was young, has stripped him of his free will and humanity.  Can he escape it all?
