A mild-mannered lawyer and reluctant veteran of the Revolutionary War roams the countryside as a new agent for the Inspector General of New York. His mission: to quietly enter small towns and see what remains of our justice system. He meets a runaway bond-servant who is disguising her looks behind dirt and rags. She tells him there’s something terribly wrong in Sleepy Hollow; something she’s ashamed to admit. He arrives at the town with a new identity, Ichabod Crane, schoolmaster.

Fifteen year old Phoebe and her best friend Ingrid develop a fascination with their teacher. Seen through the eyes of school girls with crushes, they secretly watch him and discover a very different kind of hero indeed.

On Halloween night, the not so timid Ichabod discovers the town secret and rides into legend on the Hessian Bridge.
